Best Movies and Shows

“Best Movies and Shows”

I hope I find you well!

For this week’s scheduled post, I hope you don’t mind an interruption in fashion content for something a bit more recreational: Movies and Shows. A great many number on this list, I must say, are Historical Period Pieces. I’ve also snuck a few classics in, and admittedly, a few odd ones, (though favorites of mine).

Many pieces of the selection have scenes of which are graphic in nature. I will try to note this, though I do apologize if I miss any. (Some movies I have not recently watched and may have forgotten of scenes containing such nature.) The exemption to my graphic-nature-indicating will be violence, (killing, war, etc.), though I will designate a section of kid-friendly movies.

I present to you: The Best Movies and Shows

Take your pick, grab your snacks, snuggle up and enjoy!

I enjoy watching movies and shows so much that I’d consider it a hobby of mine. Homey, good-feeling, comfort movies/series are my favorite. The kind of movies that make you wish it were raining while curled up in blankets, surrounded by pillows and snacks with your loved one. And what better way to spend your evenings and rainy days than doing exactly that? So, in light of that, I’ve compiled a list of movies and series that I enjoy immensely, and am sharing in the hope that you will get some joy from them as well by either discovering a movie/show or being reminded of one.

3, 2, 1…

Best Movies and Shows: Historical Period Pieces

  • Atonement

  • Troy
  • Dances with Wolves
  • Wyatt Earp
  • Anna Karenina
  • First Knight
  • Beowulf and Grendel (Heartstring puller. And the Live Action version, though the animated version is what sparked my interest in Old English.)

  • The Red Violin (Some graphic natured scenes.)
  • Memoirs of a Geisha
  • The Young Victoria
  • Pride & Prejudice
  • The Pianist (If you’re able to tolerate an intolerable sad story and plot; Tear-jerker.)

  • A Knight’s Tale (Kid friendly, though there is a bottom scene.)
  • Tristan and Isolde (A small scene of graphic nature.)
  • The Last Kingdom (Graphic scenes.)
  • Arthur

More Best Movies

Though a lot of these movies take place during a historical time period, I feel as though either the plot of the story line or the fantasy aspect distracts from the fact. These also did not make the cut in the Kid Friendly section. Consider these Bonus Best Content!

  • Princess Mononoke
  • The Green Mile
  • The Heat
  • The Sound of Music (Kid friendly.)
  • Queen of the Damned
  • The Mummy
  • Australia (Mistreatment present.)
  • The Phantom of the Opera (Kid friendly.)
  • The Office (A show.)
  • Van Helsing
  • The White Countess
  • The Age of Adeline
  • The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
  • Bram Stoker’s Dracula
  • Legends of the Fall
  • A River Runs Through it
  • Practical Magic
  • Red Riding Hood
  • Hidalgo

Best Movie Series

And honestly, probably the best Movies of all time, in my opinion.

Lord of the Rings

  • The Fellowship of the Ring
  • The Two Towers
  • The Return of the King

Harry Potter

  • Sorcerer’s Stone
  • Chamber of Secrets
  • Prisoner of Azkaban
  • Goblet of Fire

The movies up until this point are Kid Friendly.

  • Order of the Phoenix
  • Half Blood Prince
  • Deathly Hallows: Part 1
  • Deathly Hallows: Part 2

The Hobbit

  • An Unexpected Journey
  • The Desolation of Smaug
  • The Battle of the Five Armies

Best Movies and Shows: Honorable Mentions

An honorable mention is Game of Thrones, though the ending was so preposterous that I will not be adding it to the list. Also, in the past I’ve been able to watch and re-watch Reign, (a series show). The costumes, though historically inaccurate, are just beautiful. Though I recently tried to watch it again and am finding it difficult to complete the first episode. I can also think of a few Marvel movies that I enjoy. Black Panther, Thor, Avengers Infinity War, etc. The X-Men movies are also great!

And I know there are many that would object, but I need to shout out the Twilight Series.

It’s also worth mentioning, if you are a fan of Disney movies, I might remind you there is never a bad time to re-watch some of your favorite Disney classics!

I hope this gives you a few months’ worth of entertainment. If you have any suggestions of films or shows you particularly like, please list them below!
